Marketing Insight into the FMCG Industry



IMT-D was honored to have the esteemed presence of Mr. Kishore Hemraj Bhatia on the 17th of Oct, 2010. Mr. Kishore Bhatia, the Marketing Support Manager of Federal Foodss is an authority in the FMCG business with 10 years of experience. His specialty: marketing strategies, customer relationship, and profit responsibility within the FMCG industry. Federal Foodss, one of the largest FMCG distribution centers in UAE has more than 30 reputed brands under its belt including Sadia, Daawat, and Marina etc. He delivered an excellent presentation where his focus was to practically apply the theoretical marketing concepts into an FMCG industry.
“FMCG is not a glamorous industry but a recession proof industry” he states.

He highlighted the advantages of being in an FMCG industry which apart from being resistant to recession is a huge market with many categories. This industry he says has a quick turnover & relatively low cost associated with it. He went on to explain the FMCG boom in Dubai and how taking advantage of the huge market in UAE Carrefour established them as the leading FMCG here. He outlined the basic concepts of marketing and their practical applications in an FMCG industry.
While elaborating various marketing strategies,he stated that it is very important to select a category, define the segment, zero down to one sub segment and define the risk.

In conclusion, he stated that equal emphasis must be laid on both sales and marketing clarifying that neither can exist without the other. As the session came to an end, he advised the students by highlighting the 6Ps of a successful marketing manager: professionalism, problem solver, passionate, and persuasiveness
The interactive session was equally insightful with the students enthusiastically came forward with questions. The students of IMT D, has surely benefitted immensely from the vast bounty of knowledge they received regarding the functioning and marketing strategies of FMCG industries.
